Suggest Treatment For Internal Hemorrhoids
Question: Hello, Embarrassing that it is, here's my question. About 6 weeks ago, I had bright red blood on the TP when I wiped. It was only one time so I didn't worry. Hasn't happened since. This happened 10 or more years ago as well and I had the rectal exam and my family doc said it was internal hemorrhoids. I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago (I am 63) and it showed nothing. Now my stools are a lot thinner (not pencil thin) than normal, as in- before the bleeding. Or maybe it's just that I am more aware now and paying attention. Should I worry?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Bleeding per rectum is a thing to be worried about. There are many different causes for bleeding per rectum.
Though hemorrhoids which you have is one of the causes I would advise you to get a colonoscopy done to rule out other causes since you have also mentioned that you pass thinner stools.
You can discuss with your doctor and fix a date for colonoscopy.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
