Brief Answer:
Mindfulness can help you.

Detailed Answer:
Dear J, Welcome to HCM. I can understand.

I hope you know, by now, what are intrusive thoughts and negative thoughts. The duty of your mind is to THINK. You cannot stop your mind from thinking. But you can always divert the thinking. You can decide what to think and when and where and how.

Now, if you allow your mind to go along thinking, without diversion or control, the mind will learn its actual path and XXXXXXX and always wander into negative territory. This wandering into negative territory happens because we are prone to remember negative episodes of our past rather than positive episodes and negative aspects of future than positive aspects.

Another view point is of conscious and unconscious mind. Unconscious mind is a child and he is a mischievous kid. always trying to LOCK you in negative areas. Whereas the conscious mind is more about PRESENT and JUDICIOUS tries to overpower the unconscious mind which may trigger a conflict between those two which we feel as negative thoughts and scary.

Engaging in physical activities, outdoor games, socialization, being with friends or family members, entertainment etc can help. Meditation can help if you know how to control your concentration. Mindfulness meditation is another successful tool to overcome such problems.

Take care.
