Suggest Treatment For Irregular Heart Rate
Question: My resting heart rate has been 100 or greater since 2009. Tonight, I was very ill with the norovirus and a heart rate of 140 with o2 state at 87. I also get dehydrated so easily and have suffered with C Diff colitis since 4/2013. I had a fecal transplant on 2/7/2014, but the illness returned again in May. I am 40 years old with a 10 month old daughter and constantly sick. Recently, I have noticed a major increase in my blood pressure too. My brother is 26 with SVT, so now I know there are genetic heart problems on both sides of my family. I need some sound advice.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
I would advise you to undergo ECG and holter monitoring and check if there is arrhythmia or it is your normal rate increased, which is more possible from your description. SVT starts and ends abruptly. But you describe cuntinuous increased heart rate for very long period. It can be from your condition and also dehydration.
Anyway if there will be arrhythmia , your doctor will prescribe specific treatment. If there is increased normal rate and you are symptomatic and have high blood pressure your doctor can prescribe you beta blocker in case there is no contraindication.
Wish you good health
If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask
