Well, first of all, please note that irregular menstruation can be there due to multiple reasons, among which Pregnancy should be ruled out at first (a home Urine pregnancy test followed by a serum Beta HCG level analysis)...

If that's ruled out then a thorough hormonal profile check-up, imaging studies(eg. USG lower abdomen and pelvis) along with clinical examination should be done by your Gynecologist to look into it further..some other health concerns like rapid weight loss or obesity, excessive stress would need to be ruled out too(during the clinical evaluation by the Gynecologist)..
