Question: Hi i recently had NSU (urine tested), i received antibiotics and all was ok. After a period of weeks my bum became slightly itchy, I passed wind frequently and felt damp around my bum, I also passed stools more frequently. The NSU was contracted receiving oral sex. Is NSU in both the penis and anus treated with the same antibiotics? The bum thing could be paranoia? K

Brief Answer:
NSU is not related to GI problem

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

you have recently been treated with antibiotics for non-specific urethritis. The urethritis is limited to the urethra only and can not be transmitted to the GI tract. But what may have happened is that the antibiotic not only treated your NSU but as it kills bacteria indiscriminately that it may have changed the bacteria flora in your GI tract and caused the diarrhea. To help reverse the change in your bacteria flora of your GI tract I recommend that you start taking probiotics for 1-2 weeks. This will reset your bacteria to normal and stop the GI distress.

In summary
1. NSU no transmitted to GI tract
2. Antibiotics caused the diarrhea and frequent stools
3. Try probiotics for 1-2 weeks to reset GI tract bacteria

I hope this answered your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions and concerns
