Suggest Treatment For Itchy Anus
Question: What can be causing my anus to itch? Sometimes I experience anal itching. I also have been having headaches and I believe that it can be linked to canncer and a defiency in calcium. There are also other reasons why these things may occur as well. I need to make sure that I have nothing to worry about. Please contact asap.

The most common cause of anal itching is an infection caused by pinworm. The parasite sites just around the anus and sheds its eggs causing irritation and itching. other possible infections are sexually transmitted infections and yeast infections.
Another well known cause is related to personal habits such as wiping too much or too little, using certain perfumes and soaps, etc. which cause irritation and itches.
Other causes like hemorrhoids and diarrhea are more common. Cancers rarely cause itches at the anal area.

I will suggest you clean gently, dry thoroughly, avoid scratching and wear cotton underwear and loose dressing. If these fail, I will suggest that you ask for examination by your doctor. I appreciate your prompt and courteous answer. I have heard about the pinworms and I truly hope that my anus isn't itching because of that reason. It wouldn't be from a sexually transmitted disease since I have not had intercourse since 2011. Unless, it is from that time period and I do not believe that could be possible because I should of noticed signs and symptoms by now.
