Brief Answer:
Kindly elaborate and send pictures.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

It seems from your query that you have some skin issue for which you have used Polysporin & Cordran.

I am not able to get for what exact skin condition you have used both these creams. So in view to diagnose the exact entity and help you best I request you to kindly elaborate your concern:

- Since how long you have the skin condition.

- Do you have any eruptions or any rash.

- What are the areas affected.

- Is there any itching or pain over the same. If yes then what is the intensity of pain and itching- mild/ moderate or severe.

- For how long you used Polysporin & Cordran.

In view to help you best I humbly request you to kindly upload few good resolution pictures of the affected area. For that you have a feature on the right side of the page or else you can send it on

Don't know if you got my response. You originally only hot part of my message.
I got what I assumed was a spider bite (did not see the insect) almost 4 weeks ago at a ranch in rural XXXXXXX It was very itchy and red and raised like a blister.
When it hadn't gone away in a few weeks I put Polysporin on it a few times. It seemed to be getting less red and less itchy. then a few days ago I put Cordran cream on it and it reduced it substantially to the size of an ant bite. Today I woke up with it having gotten bigger and itchier again.
It's on an arm from which my lumpy nodes have been removed.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Observe the area for 24 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome again and thanks for posting the details.

After analyzing the complete query with best clinical acumen I can make out that the problem is a "Insect bite hypersensitivityā€¯. Due to the release of the toxin locally it causes redness and itching which occurred 4 weeks ago.

The only concern is its recurrence at the same site. It shows a possibility of scratching the area unintentionally or infection at the area.

For the further betterment kindly follow the suggestion below:

- Keep yourself away from hot and humid climate.

- Wear cotton clothes to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.

- Do cold compression over the affected area.

- Do not use the affected limb and give some rest to it.

-Don't try to scratch or rub the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem.

Observe the area for 24 hours. If the area is increasing with increase in pain and itching with redness then it shows possibility of infection.

In my patients with such condition I prescribe an antibiotic tablet such as cefixime 200 mg two times for 5 days to prevent infection. In case of pain a pain killer tablet such as paracetamol can be taken for 2 times for 3 days. For the itching I prefer to give Loratadine (Claritin) for one to two times a day.

I suggest my patients to apply a mild steroid with antibiotic cream ( such as flutibact) for two times in a very thin layer so that it should not be visible to the naked eye.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to answer any further queries.
