Suggest Treatment For Itchy Scalp And Red Dots On The Neck
Question: On my scalp very itchy I have white circles with tiny red dots mainly around the nap of my neck do know what this is?

Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Round white circles on the scalp that are itchy might be due to several causes. A picture or two would be very helpful to know better but i am mentioning some of the possible causes:
1. A very likely cause is psoriaisis which creates white circles that are thick and sometimes white thing like candle might be scratched from it.
2. Another cause is excema that is very similar to psoriais and have very similar treatment.
3. Another likely cause is fungal infection of the scalp.
What would i recommend you to do is:
1. Nizoral shampoo that will help with fungal infection, use it at least twice a week.
2. A local combined steroid/antifungal cream to be applied twice a day on the white circles
3. during the day you might use some moisturising cream to keep the area hydrated.
4. do not share towels with other people in the family
5. if no improvement with these than you will need to see a doctor for better evaluation and resulting treatment.
