Suggest Treatment For Kidney Stone Measuring 4mm

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: I have 1.8mm kidney stone on my right kidney as well as another 4mm stone on my left. My Urology specialist want me to remove these stone by ESWL this month. However, I am bit reluctant to submit this procedure due to the risk involved. Why undergo this procedure if my left kidney stone was formed since 2009. Would it be possible just to let it grow to 7mm before submitting to ESWL procedure. I will be travelling overseas in Southeast Asia and have a contingency plan just in case my left kidney stone becomes obstructing causing unbearable pain. In as much I have medical travel insurance covering my existing condition. Thanks a lot xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Brief Answer:
You can expect these stone to pass out in urine spontaneously

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have stone of a size of 1.8 mm in Rt kidney and 4 mm in Left kidney .

If the size of the stones mentioned is accurate there is no need for any active intervention (ESWL)at this stage .You can certainly expect these stones to pass out in urine spontaneously.

Following measures will help to pass out stones at ease and fast .
1) Drink more water to produce more urine .This will help to flush out the stones quickly .
2) Take antibiotic like Norfloxacin twice daily to prevent infection
3) Tomsulosin once daily .This helps to dilate ureter and there by to pass out the stone .
4) Pain killers like Brufen as and when necessary.

With this I am sure these stones will pass out in urine .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
