Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic,
Management of renal calculi or renal stones depends on the size and location of the calculi or stones.
The calculi or stones larger than 6 mm are managed by surgery.
However, the calculi / stones which are smaller than 3 mm are managed by conservative measures.
Conservative measures include drinking plenty of water and agents which will cause dissolution of stones depending on its chemical nature.
The basis of conservative treatment is dissolution of stone and flushing out of the stone.
Your kidney calculi/ stone is of borderline size and there are no ill-effects on the kidney thus, you can go for conservative treatment and observe the changes in the stone.
You need to follow up with your doctor for reguar assessment of the calculi / stones.
In case the stones regress, conservative treatment can be continued.
If there is not improvement or the stones increase in size, surgical treatment will be needed at that point of time.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
