Suggest Treatment For Knee Joint Infection Caused By Knee Injury

default
Posted on Fri, 22 May 2015
Question: I am a 22 yr old male. about 8 or 9 years ago I got kicked in the knee by a calf. it got a really bad infection. Due to a court order I was not allowed to go to the doctor with promission from the GA court system (at the time I was living in Fl).

anyway, my Dad used a sewing Needle to puncture the bump on my knee. He when about half an inch into my knee before I felt anything. Then he squeezed out what he could.

since then my knee has been hurting me on and off. especially in winter months. During Physical at training with my XXXXXXX ROTC unit I hurt it. The campus Doctor said I inflamed two tendons in my knee. I was wondering if there is anything that you would suggest to keep it from hurting and/or prevent further injury

Brief Answer:
Get a MRI knee done; follow as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
First of all, manipulation without consulting a doctor is not a good thing to do. Anyways, now whether you have injured any tendon or whether there is tendon infection or knee joint infection will be known from a MRI scan. Get the MRI done.
Avoid squatting, crossed legged sitting or hyperflexion or hyperextension of the affected knee.
Take collagen peptide supplements. That will help healing any minor tendon injury.
Take aceclofenac-thiocolchicoside for pain and inflammation if any.
Consult an orthopedician for a thorough examination and further advice.

Hope this was helpful.
