Question: have trouble taking beta blockers and most medicine . my blood p. goes up instead of down when taking even channel blockers l am on diovan and lanoxin and coumadin now but had a heart attach when i took multaq doctor told me never to take that again ,went to an allergist and he told me that it was my mind controlling my bp and making it go up .but i was in a deep sleep when the doctor gave me clonadine and the doctor told me my bp went over 200 and never take it what should i do. i am now getting panic attacks my email is YYYY@YYYY;com...

Thanks for the query

I have had two such patients with such an issue of hypertension being very difficult to treat.
This is what I suggest

1. Most commonly such labile hypertension is due to a secondary cause, in your case it could be renal artery stenosis seconday to atherosclerosis. Please get a renal doppler done
2. I strongly recommend you to under take 24 hour ambulatory bp monitoring for accurate reading
3. Both my patients responded well with ACE/ARB drugs. Now both of them have normal blood pressure
