Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting you query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You have feeling of lump in the throat which is called globus pharyngeus.
There are a few causes for globus - gastroeoesphageal reflux disease (GERD), post nasal drip due to sinusitis and sometimes due to anxiety.
Your doctor has already prescribed medications for GERD (Prilosec) and post nasal drip.
In addition to the medications and lifting the head end of the bed , the following should be done.
You need to reduce weight if obese.
You need to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol ( if you have these habits).
You need to avoid coffee, citrus, mint, chocolates, fatty food, tomatoes and citrus.
You need to avoid eating full stomach and instead eat multiple smaller meals.
You need to go to bed only 2-3 hours after food.
If you follow these advice in addition to taking medications, you will find good relief.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
