Question: Hello, I am a 31 year old female. Today I went to see my Regular GP. I have had a virus for about a month. She did some blood tests which were all clear. She also felt my abdomen. While applying pressure to my left side lower abdomen I felt pain Which caused me to flinch. When she asked if that hurt I lied and said it tickled. The truth is it did hurt. I am going to go back to see the Dr I just want to know what it could possibly be?
I don't have any pain usually. If I do it's dull. I get upper abdominal pain (left side under ribs) regularly, espeshally after I eat. The left side of my back can also be sore at times. I'm sure it's all nothing and me just feeling bad for lieing to the Dr. Do you think it is worth worrying about?

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be something serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The left side lower abdomen pain on palpation by the gynecologist can be an intestinal pain or a visceral pain. If the pain is not recurrent or there is no persistent pain in the area then there is no need to worry.
The pain under ribs on the left side after eating is likely to be related to gastritis. Avoiding oily and spicy food and taking omeprazole will help in symptomatic relief.

Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Visceral pain can be related to internal body organs like ovaries, kidneys, urinary bladder or intestines. Intestinal distension due to gas and indigestion can also cause such a pain.
