Question: I have very bad leg cramps at night disrupting sleep. I'm a healthy 88 year old woman and exercise regularly.
I'm 5'1 and weigh 106 lbs., have always been a lightweight. Have tried unsuccessfully tonic water and elevating my legs at night. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol both well under control with meds for years and recently started taking 5mg of Donepezil for memory.

Brief Answer:
Some things to try

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
I am sorry you are having this problem. Cramps can be very irritating especially if they disrupt your sleep.
Do gentle stretches both before and after you exercise.
Here are some things to try.
Before sleep soak in a tub of warm water and do some gentle stretching of the legs after that.
Make sure you drink at least 8 (6oz) glasses of water daily.
Take a multivitamin/multimineral supplement daily
Take an extra magnesium supplement (100mg) at bedtime.
I hope this is helpful and let me know if you have further questions
