Suggest Treatment For Lichen Planus In The Mouth
Question: I am a 66 yr old female with lichen planus in my mouth and have developed an itchy rash on my legs and torso. Can the rash be related to the lichen planus? What type of doctor should I see? A skin dr suggested a rheumatologist.
Brief Answer:
Regarding your itchy rash
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.
I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have noted your concern.
Your skin rash could very well be Lichen planus. Lichen planus can involve the skin, nail as well as oral and genital mucosa. Skin lesions of lichen planus are itchy, shiny, red to violet, flat, polygonal papules which may coalesce to form plaques.
I request you to kindly upload a few good quality images of the rash in "Reports Section" so that i am able to guide you better.
For skin rash you should see a Dermatologist rather than a Rheumatologist. Do you have any joint related issues too?
Regards
