Brief Answer: He requires eye examination for retinal injury. Detailed Answer: Hello Welcome to Health care Magic Iam Dr. Dadapeer, an Ophtalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye. It seems from the history that your husband got injured a week ago, following which he had light sensitivity and now he is seeing white spots and flashes of light. Your husband has sustained a blunt injury and light sensitivity called as photophobia indicates injury to the eye resulting in inflammation called as traumatic uveitis or trauma induced damage to the cornea. Seeing white spots and flashes of light are present in damage to the inner layers of the eye like vitreous and retina following trauma. Flashes of light in particular needs to be evaluated to rule out retinal problems following trauma like retinal tear. Since your husband is having symptoms of white spots and flashes of light he needs evaluation by a ophthalmologist at the earliest. He needs to undergo retinal examination by simple indirect ophthalmoscopy and should receive prophylactic laser treatment if there is retinal tear to prevent complications like retinal detachment. Though the condition looks alarming by timely treatment any further complications can be prevented. Hence I advice you to get ophthalmologist consultation for your husband at the earliest for further evaluation and treatment accordingly. Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you. Thank you
