Hello,
Thanks for the query.
You see cirrhosis means irreversible damage to the cells and liver structure.
Once cirrhotic changes occur, they are Permanant and can't be brought back to normal.
Alcoholic liver cirrhosis patients are advised to stay away from alcohol.
Continued alcohol intake increases the rate of progression of cirrhosis.
Any binge drinking is definitely harmful to your liver but can't say how much damage it has caused to you.
As far as prognosis and life expectancy of a person with cirrhosis is concerned,it is determined by CPT ( child-Pugh- turcotte ) classification system. We can not tell about life expectancy by just stating the percentage of liver involved.
A score of 5-6 means life expectancy of 15-20 years.
Score of 7-9 means life expectancy of 4-14 years and a score of 10-15 means life expectancy of 1-3 years.
It would be better to talk to your treating doctor about it as he knows all the different parameters of your body needed for the CPT classification.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
