Suggest Treatment For Ear Discharge

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis two years ago when I experienced the bursting of esophogeal varicies. I have never been an alcohol user and I do not have any type of hepatitis. My hepatologist calls my cirrohsis idiopathic. I keep having recurring eye infectionss and constant drainage from my ears while I sleep so when I wake up evey morning my ears contain a crusty substance.. Eyes drain all day and are also crusty upon awakning.

Hi,

Noted your history of a known non-alcoholic cirrhosis with bled esophageal varices, have recurrent infections of eyes and ears with discharge that forms crust in the morning.
Since you have been suffering from liver cirrhosis, there are safe medicines and a list of medicines that should be taken with caution and not to be taken list for liver impairment.
You certainly need a treatment with proper oral as well as topical ear and eye drops and should be taken only after consulting your Hepatologist.
Also consult an ENT and Eye Specialist to have proper cleaning, clinical examination to decide the cause, get further investigations to know the cause and to know the status of liver functions and to have proper medications after consulting the Hepatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
