Suggest Treatment For Loose Stools
Question: Hi, my son is having lose motion 3 times a day, have started nor metrogyl suspension(30 ml) given 9 ml. He is 7 years old and weighs 30 KGS. Kindly tell me the dosage.
Brief Answer:
Dose is adequate
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
Each 5 ml of Normetrogyl suspension contains 100 mg of Norfloxacin and 100 mg of Metronidazole.
The dose of Normetrogyl is 10-15 mg/kg/day in two divided dosage.
So for your child whose weight is 30 kgs dose would be 15-22.5 ml/day. The dose you have given that is 9 ml two times a day is adequate for him.
Give him plenty of ORS and fluid to avoid dehydration.
Watch for danger signs like poor activity, vomiting, decreased urine output and if you notice any please consult your pediatrician immediately.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards

Thank you for the detailed reply. How long do we need to continue? Do we administer the medicine for 5 days?
