What Is The Dosage For Norfloxacin + Metronidazole For Stomach Upset?

My 4.5 year son has a stomach upset. Soft stools, 3-4 times for the past 24 hours. I have a suspension of {Norfloxacin (100mg) + Metronidazole (100mg)} per 5 ml in my house. What is the dosage I should give him? And how many times per day and for how many days. Before or after meals. He weighs around 18 kg.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many causes of stomach upset and diarrhea in child age 4.5 years old. To make sure what is the cause you should bring him to see a doctor. The more history is better for us to help. Normally, we give antibiotics only if we suspect the child will get infection from bacteria or parasite. Do not give your child antibiotics without prescription from a doctor. To help you here better you should give us more information about your child.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
