Suggest Treatment For Low Vitamin-D Deficiency In Children
You can give vitamin D3 sachets or syrup.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to health care magic,
I have gone through the attached report which is 12.3 ng/ml is significantly low.
You can give him vitamin D3 cholecalciferol in sachets or syrup forms 5000 IU per day.
The major cause of vitamin D deficiency in children is lack of proper sun exposure or children remains covered throughout the day or maternal vitamin D deficiency or prolonged breast feeding.
Apart from treatment, your son should have adequate sun light exposure preferably in morning hours around 8 AM.
If absorption or compliance is poor then one can give vitamin D3 bolus by a padeatrician.
Consult pediatrician for further advise.
Thanks and regards,

Thanks for your guidance.
What specific time morning and evening is best for Vitamin D via Sun light.
Morning sun light exposure would be good.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for your follow-up query,
As I have mentioned in my answer, around 8 am in the the morning for half hour daily exposure of sunlight would be sufficient.
I personally give my 2 months old daughter daily sun light exposure for about 10 minutes to prevent vitamin D deficiency.
Sun light plays a active role in the formation of vitamin D3(active form of vitamin d known as cholecalciferol) in the skin of human beings.
If you still have any query then feel free to ask me.
Regards,
will half an hour be sufficient to increase the levels. How about in future
1)will nachiket always have a risk of reducing Vitamin D levels.
2)After 3 months I have to move to germany, what precautions should I take before and after .
Sunlight exposure is a peventive step or treatment in vit D deficiency.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the follow-up.
Daily exposure of sunlight for half an hour to almost all the body parts with uncovered cloths
(only in children) would be sufficient to maintain the level of vitamin D3 in body.
It means it will help to prevent further vitamin D deficiency in a children who is at high risk of getting vitamin D deficiency or symptoms due to deficiency.
In your son's case, you must give him vitamin D3 sachets with water or syrup forms in required dosage as I mentioned in my previous answer.
He must be checked after 6 to 8 weeks for serum vitamin D3 level. If that level gets increased then you can continue treatment with advice of your pediatrician or till the level comes to normal.
Once his vitamin d level will be restored then it is not necessary to continue further vitamin supplements. You have to give him balanced diet with proper sunlight exposure to prevent future deficiency.
If you are going abroad after 3 months, then you can carry your child with no specific precautions required. You can also continue all this preventive steps at Germany.
So,no need to worry.
Regards,
You are most welcome.
