Suggest Treatment For Low Libido In A Patient With Anxiety And OCD

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: I have a known history of GAD, OCD, Panic disorder since I was 7. I am now 40. Diagnosed with BC in 2010, underwent chemo, surgery and radiation. I use to masturbate since I was 15 -18. I am as well circumcised since childhood.
I do not have interest for sex at all. I am married for 10 years and I have frequent problems with my husband regarding sex-life. I do not have a period since taking tamoxifen and before that it was irregular. I do not feel any pleasure, arousal or orgasm during sexual intercourse. I only get aroused if my husband uses his finger to arouse me. Still I do not enjoy fore-play and intercourse is painful apart from lack of interest.
I don't take medications as I fear taking medications. I went to a therapist but did not work out.
I sometimes get aroused if I watch a porn movie or read sexy stories, but I hate that because it is against my morals.
Can you give me advise

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for choosing HCM
I am sorry to learn about your illness but your wish to enjoy sex life is a healthy sign indeed
The causes for reduced desire in your case could be Partially treated OCD/GAD, S/E of medicines you might be taking, Low testosterone or high prolactin, It is very likely that your serum estrogen is quite low causing vaginal dryness and pain. Using finger for arousal is perfectly normal and advisable, masturbation is safe so get rid of the guilt. so you should tell me the status of psychiatric problem, get the hormonal ie estrogen, testosterone and prolactin from a good lab and tell me if you are taking any medicine.
You need a detailed assessment before treatment strategy can be decided.
