Question: My Husband has absolutely no libido. Now if I initiate and get his motor running then he is all a go and we have passionate amazing sex. In the last month he has been diagnoised with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I know the chest pains were causing him anxiety before we found out it was from the high blood pressure. he feels a lot better now that he is on medication. we have also started walking together for at least 30 minutes a night. He asked his doctor to run a testosterone test and it came back low but, we know about the risks of the hormone replacement and are trying to decide if this is the way to go or should we find another avenue. Any help in this area would be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Sleep apnea and low testosterone.

Detailed Answer:
Good day.
Noted the question. Glad to hear that your husband's blood pressure is better now. Low libido could be due to a number of reasons including anxiety. Your husband has several risk factors for low libido. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, anxiety, sleep apnea are causes of low libido. Besides, sleep apnea itself can cause low testosterone levels. May I ask few questions.
1.his height and weight.
2.smoking and alcohol history.
3.the testosterone report.

Ideally, testosterone should be checked on Fasting state before 10 am. Once low, we need to recheck it. If rechecked value also is low, we need to do few more tests like SHBG, LH, prolactin, thyroid blood tests, Fasting blood glucose etc. Without completing these tests, it's not recommended to start testosterone replacement. He will also need to do assessment for sleep apnea. Testosterone replacement can often worsen sleep apnea. Please be aware that his testosterone levels, libido and blood pressure can improve significantly if sleep apnea is tackled well.

Thank you for your reply. To answer your questions, He does have sleep apnea and he finally got a mask that is comfortable to wear so he will comply with this better.
He is 6'2" non smoker non drinker, and weighs 231lbs. He was checked for the Low Testostrone last friday at 7am. He was in a fasting state. I will call his doctor about him having the test redone to make sure his levels are low. I had read that replacement therapy would worsen the sleep apnea as well as causing issues with his blood pressure and a few other things. If I have to initiate every time to keep him from having other problems I would rather do that then loose him to a heart attack etc...

Brief Answer:
Treatment of sleep apnea will improve libido and testosterone levels.

Detailed Answer:
Okay. Good to hear that he is started on treatment for sleep apnea. Noted his weight and height details. It may be good for him to lose some weight,( ideal would be 10 kilos ( 22 lbs). This would improve sleep apnea as well as testosterone levels. Since he has been started on mask, it is better to wait for few more weeks before you do another testosterone test. As a bonus, blood pressure also will improve.
So I would say, combine weight loss with treatment of sleep apnea and please wait few weeks.
