Brief Answer:
Could be Acute Retention of Urine due to Enlarged Prostate.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have acute retention of Urine due to enlarged prostate.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Did you have increased frequency of urination ,nocturnal frequency, urgency over a period of few months before you developed retention.?

Mostly you have acute retention of urine due to enlarged prostate which is common at this age and needs to go to Emergency room to get catheterized and empty the bladder, and start taking antibiotic like Cefixime twice daily along with Tomsulosin once daily.

Please consult qualified Urologist immediately for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis with specific mention of post void Urine residue.
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

No real problems like you described. This was the first time this has happened. I have had red colorization but the doctor said it wasn't anything to get exited about.

Brief Answer:
Read detail answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.You have not mentioned in your query about
1) Whether you are able to pass urine or not,and whether your bladder is distended or empty?
2) Do you have pain in lower abdomen?
3)Time interval after you passed urine last time?

Please rule out retention of urine and get investigated to rule out enlarged prostate.
Thanks and Regards.
