Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain, Diarrhea And Blood In Stool

Question: I took 2 exlax last night waking up in the am with extreme diarrhea and alot of bright red blood in toliet and on paper. Happened a few times. Got really weak and couldnt even hold my weight up and went to sleep for 5 6 hours. The diarrhea stopped mid afternoon but when I urinate there is still some bright red blood on paper. I have lower abdominal achiness. I had little to bo energy by dinner time and took 2 iron pills ferrous sulfate and a multi vitamin. Went back to sleep woke an hour later and feel a little bit of energy and also drinking alot of water. Is this normal. The anus is pretty swollen and hard and looked in a mirror. I beared down and red blood was oozy. What is causing this?

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

You are saying to be taking 2 Exlax which has Senna as active ingredients. The extreme diarrhea accompanied by blood is due to Senna use.

The swollen and hard anus is suggesting possible hemorrhoids.

I advise to:
- take plenty of fluids
- take tasectan to stop diarrhea
- follow BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast); yogurt is also advised
- if the diarrhea won't stop within the next following day, should go to ER for further evaluations and specific treatment.

I also advise to schedule an appointment with GI specialist and colonoscopy to evaluate the changes in your anus and colon.
