Question: I fell on my butt while trying to run backward to hit a fast tennis ball. My lower back hurts when I try to stand and sit. It also hurts when I breathe while standing and sitting. What should I do? When I am in bed it is ok.

Brief Answer:
Fractures should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It is hard to tell from the point of this service what exactly has been injured. Your symptom can indicate muscles contusion as well as some fractures. Pain while breathing can be due to rib fracture. Back pain can appear in case of spine fracture.

The best you can do is to consult a doctor and have an x-rays done. If there will be no fractures, rest and painkillers are the best treatment. You may have this pains for a week or so.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
