Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain And Distended Abdomen

Question: I just turned 65. I went to my doctor a few months ago with yellowing skin, nails and whites of eyes. I also have a distended belly (it's always been flat until recently) and constant lower back pain. The doctor ordered blood tests, which he claims showed no abnormalities in liver function or anything else. What other problems could be indicated by the above symptoms?

Brief Answer:
I will insits on him looking at the liver and its ducts!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Your symptoms are suggestive of a liver problem. Not many organs cause yellowish skin and distended abdomen. My advise would be that you return to him and insist on getting further and comprehensive liver function evaluation. If your doctor is not a gastroenetrologist, please insist to see one. Until proven otherwise, I will stand by a liver disease for these symptoms.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications.
