Question: I have lower back pain that came on suddenly early one morning. the pain seems to radiate around to my hips and some times down the back of my legs to the knees. Ther has been no change for 9 days

Since the pain spreads to both legs, spinal cord stenosis ( narrowing and compression of spinal cord ) should be considered and evaluated further.

Conditions that may cause it include herniated disc disease, spondylolysthesis (slipped vertebrae) etc.

In rare cases vascular malformations of the spinal cord may present with bilateral sudden onset of symptoms.

Please get evaluated by a spine Specialist and by a spinal cord MRI, in order to get a correct diagnosis of your condition.

Treatment depends on diagnosis.
