Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Dec 2016
Question: Pain, moderate, in lower left back. Laying on each side is somewhat painful. Laying flat is not much. Testing a heat pad (and later some ICY Hot) to see if it helps. It seems to be muscular but I don't know what kidney issue would feel like. Urine is colorless to light yellow depending on fluids intake. That has not changed. Your thoughts? Thanks XXXX

Thanks. May have strained muscle working outdoors. Will definitely watch for the 10 day period if x-ray needed. Thanks again. XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Could be Sacroilitis/ Lumbar Spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon
You have pain in lower back , on sleeping on sides and not while lying supine.
Lower Back Pain could be due to lumbar spondylosis ( due to degenerative changes in spine) or Sacroilitis( Inflammation of the joint between spine and pelvis). I am more inclined towards second diagnosis.
I would suggest pain killers muscle relaxants and spinal extension exercises. If you don't feel relief in 10 days , get an X ray of lower spine.
Kidney pain is unlike the pain you have , moreover kidney pain generally increases on lying supine.
I hope to have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any further questions.
