Question: Hello, I'm a 26 year old male, just started getting a pretty bad cold about 2 days ago. (runny nose, bad cough, mucus in my throat) today i noticed a lump the size of a small gumball just above my left collar bone on my neck.its not noticeable until you fell on my neck just above the collar bone. its not hard and is pain-less and is not red or anything like that. I had a regular check up with my doctor about 2 months ago and all blood tests came back saying I'm perfectly healthy. what could be the cause? could it be this bad Cold I'm experiencing? ( gets cleanex as i type this my nose is so runny) any advice is much appreciated

Brief Answer:
Can be a lymph node swelling. Needs investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A small lump just above the collar bone is likely to be a swollen lymph node. It can happen due to an infection or allergy in the local area. The runny nose that you have is not likely to cause the swelling above the collar bone. Since the swelling is painless and small in size, there is no need to worry.
You can wait for a week and see if the swelling decreases on its own,. In case the swelling persists or increases then do consult a physician for proper examination and FNAC.
I hope this answers your query.
