Question: I have just discover a hard lump in my breast. I am unable to get an appointment immediately. Are lumps always cancerous? XXXX

I have read your query and understand your concern.
It is definitely true that as you grow old,chances of cancer dies increase but there are number of other benign conditions ( non cancerous ), like phylloides tumour,granular cell tumour etc which can cause appearance of hard breast lump.
The differentiation between benign and cancerous condition can be done by mammography and proper biopsy of the breast tissue.
Don't get tense and meet your doctor for appropriate examination and relevant investigations.
