Suggest Treatment For Lump Near Armpit
Question: Hi I have been on 5 chemo regimes and radiotherapy for metastetic breast cancer Her2+ for 2 years with no gap in between. It's relentless. Ten days ago I finished 6 weeks of radiotherapy and yesterday noticed a hard lump between my other breast and armpit (it's not in the actual armpit itself but lower down). I'm assuming it is a gland and my cancer specialist says it is suspicious and I'm waiting to hear about a biopsy and ultrasound. I am heartbroken as I thought I might have kicked this horrific disease after an intense fight. Can it be removed by surgery? I can't take any more chemo. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
yes it can be
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
If it is suspicious then we should biopsy it. If it is indeed cancer and PET scan does not show any disease elsewhere, then I would recommend surgery to remove it.
If there is disease elsewhere, then surgery will not help.
Hope this helps.
