Suggest Treatment For Lump Near Groin
Almost 2 weeks ago I noticed a lump along my bikini line. It was painful to touch and came out of no where. The next couple of days it was a little tender but not as bad as when I first discovered it. I went to the doctor who prescribed a course of antibiotics. The lump reacted, changing composition and size (was about 3 cm long once the initial swelling went down overnight). Once the antibiotics were complete it was almost gone, but had seemed to get closer to the surface of the skin and it has now popped. Not much came out of it (a small amount of pus, dark blood and clear liquid). I didn't notice any distinctive smells and it seems like there is still a lump there. I have squeezed it to make sure that nothing else is going to come out! Should I be concerned?
Possibly induration of surrounding tissues
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern.
Lump along the bikini line could be folliculitis or clogged sebaceous gland due to friction by the inner wear, which can lead to formation of pus and inflammatory signs like pain, redness etc.
Antibiotics by decreasing the infection will decrease the size of the lump. Once the pus liqufies and infection decreases, usually the lump will pop up as in your condition.
After poping up also, the induration of surrounding structures of lump will remain for few days, which will give the feeling of persistence of lump.
If you are not having much pain, no further discharge from lump and if size is regressing, no need to worry.
Anti inflammatory and analgesic drugs like diclofenac with serratiopeptidase can help in decreasing the induration and pain and in disappearance of lump.
Take care.
