Suggest Treatment For Lump On Jaw Bone

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Feb 2016
Question: When i place my finger very deep below my jaw bone, very near my ear, i can find a very hard lump (pea size) attached to the bone. When i made my dentist touch it he told me it is probably a swollen gland. But then, when i went home, i realised that i have exactly the same pea sized hard lump at the other side of my face as well. So i dont think is a swollen lump. I wonder what it might be? Do i need to have it tested?

Brief Answer:
Normal salivary gland, enlarged lymph nodes, ultrasound

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the lump near the ear is concerned, I have two possibilities. It can be a normal parotid salivary gland since it is present on both the side of your face.
The other possible cause can an enlarged lymph node secondary to any infection in the ear or salivary glands.
Nothing to be panic, consult a good oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get an ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis and rule out any pathology. These are the possible diagnosis based on your description of the lesion. If you can upload the images of the lump, I can give you exact diagnosis.
I hope I have answered your query. if any queries are there, reply me back. Take care.
