Suggest Treatment For Lump Under The Skin And Behind The Ear
Question: My 7 year old daughter has a large lump under the skin on the left side of her neck, slightly below and behind the ear. It feels larger than a marble, moves slightly. She has had a cough and some congestion (I was sick this week with a respiratory infection and bad cough). I hope it is a swollen lymph node caused by her being sick, but it feels so large and is only on the one side.
Brief Answer:
Lymph Node
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
What you are describing does sound like a swollen lymph node due to illness. It often is found in only one sound and they can get quite large. You've mentioned already some of the important points. It is moveable and not painful.
Once the illness passes, it can take days to weeks for the node to shrink.
If at any point the node becomes painful, I recommend consulting with your doctor. This could mean that the node itself is infected and may require antibiotic treatment. Otherwise there is no reason to he overly concerned.
