Suggest Treatment For Lumps In The Neck
Two weeks ago I noticed two tender lumps in my neck and then the following day a large long lump in the right side of my groin. I was given antibiotics by my doctor as it was a suspected infection and one of the lumps in my neck have disappeared. However, one is still there as well as the one in the right side of my groin and also some small lumps in the left side of my groin. I am unsure of what to do now. Any advice?
Thanks,
Shannon.
Clinical Evaluation, Ultrasound, FNAC for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/18 - two tender lumps in neck - 2 weeks ago - next day a large long lump in right groin - Amox for 7 days - one lump in neck disappeared - small lumps in left groin - wants advise...
Since the history is of 2 weeks duration with one week of antibiotic, persistence of the lumps which most probably are due to lymph nodes need proper clinical evaluation, preferably by a General Surgeon, investigations to get the most probable diagnosis and have a plan for proper management.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Tests of blood like CBC.
Ultrasonography and guided FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology.
Clinical evaluation as advised above.
This will guide for further management, may be a further course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medication till the reports and specific treatment as may be guided by reports of investigations.
I hope, this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
