Suggest Treatment For Lyme Disease

Posted on Mon, 25 Aug 2014
Question: In general I have not been feeling well. Mild discomfort in stomach etc. I happen to notice this minor rash behind my knee the other day. Thought it was poison ivy, but it isn't itchy. Is it possible that it is lyme disease. I was in an area in CA about 4 weeks ago where there were lots of dear and wild life.

Brief Answer:
Could be lyme disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I have seen the image you have attached, the lesion do resemble those seen in lyme disease.

You may have to consult your treating doctor for detailed physical examination and confirm the diagnosis.

You may have to be placed on antibiotics like azithromycin or doxycycline at the earliest.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.

Serological tests

Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Most of times clinical examination would suffice in diagnosing the condition. Also, there are serological tests which help in diagnosing the lyme disease.
