Suggest Treatment For Mild Cough
Question: Hi
About 2 months ago I met an car accident. I was sitting on non driving front seat. Air bags opened due to the impact and i did not face any physical injury. But i was having minor problem breathing and i visited a pulmonologist on same day. He said due to the impact of seat belt i may have had some pressure on my lungs. He tested oxygen level, BP and did physical examination and said all was ok with me and i do not need any medication. Things improved within few days and forgot the incident but from last week i am having some sensation in my chest on both sides and very very mild cough where i feel like coughing even though my throat is fine and not sore. Today i have some pain in chest when i cough. I haven't taken any appointment and best i can meet a doctor is tomorrow. Please guide me if my condition need urgent attention and js it related to that accident.

Brief Answer:
Your present symptoms do not appear to be because of the accident.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
Have gone through your query. In my opinion your present complaints are not related to the accident that you met with, 2 months back. As you have mentioned, there was no impact on your chest. Do you have any fever or sore throat or do you suffer from any allergy. I feel you could be coming down with a cold or could be allergic cough. Do keep the appointment with your doctor and request him for a chest x-ray. He will examine you in detail and advise you accordingly.
Hope this answers your query. Feel free to ask if you have any more queries.
Take care.

I think you did not go through my query properly.
1. I had mentioned that i had faced impact on chest and had problem breathing. there was no surface physical injury though
2. I had mentioned that i have no sore throat. no cold. Have very mild cough
I have no fever as well, i have no allergy and don't have any family history of asthma, allergy or even bronchitis.

Brief Answer:
You still need to get a chest xray done.

Hi XXXXXXX
I went through your query again and again as it is required while answering a query. I will again say that you have mentioned that the airbags opened due to the impact but you did not face any physical injury. However you had some minor breathing problem.
You have not mentioned about the allergy as well. I have said that your symptoms could be because of an impending cold.
I am happy that you have no cold or any sore throat. If there was an impact on the chest as you have mentioned now , it is better to get a chest xray done to rule out any injury and any consequences of that.
Take care.
