Suggest Treatment For Mild Discomfort In Left Testicle

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Jun 2015
Question: I'm a 39 year old male in generally very good health. I went in for an ultra sound today due to mild discomfort in my left testicle. My initial symptoms are that one testicle is larger and significantly harder than the other. The hardness has existed for a couple of months, but this discomfort and size increase is something mroe recent. The discomfort I have is more like a dull ache and is easily manageable, I wouldn't even rate it as pain on a scale of one to ten. The ultra sound confirmed two to three masses (she described as lesions) on my testicle that my GP said looks more like scar tissue, but can't be certain. She has recommended me to see a urologist and that appointment is pending. Naturally my biggest fear is that this is cancer (no family history of testicular cancer, but I did have an older sister die from colon cancer in her early 50s). I also had epididymitis about 10 to 11 years ago, which was treated with antibiotics and went away quickly. My question is, if it isn't cancer, what else could this be? I'm pretty active (run often, bike occassionally) and I have received the occassional groin hit, but nothing I would ever describe as severe. I'm basically looking for any potenial non-cancerous causes for these symptoms, just to keep some level of optimism and my worst fears under control.

Brief Answer:
Would like to go through your Ultrasound Scan Report.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have discomfort in left testicle with slight increase in size since couple of months which on ultrasound scanning has been reported to be small lesions in testis.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making precise comments on your problem.
1) Did you have fever with pain in testicles at any time as far as you can remember?
2) Did you have trauma directly over Testicle?
3) Have you done Color Doppler Scan of the scrotum?
4) What is the size of the lesions reported on Ultrasound Scanning ?

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get Color Doppler Scan of the scrotum done .

Small lesions (Less than 10 mm in size)are most of the time Chronic Inflammatory and benign in nature and not to be worried for .What one needs is to have close monitoring by doing Ultrasound Scanning every 3 months .

Awaiting your feedback to help you and make precise comments and suggestions.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
