Suggest Treatment For Mild Ear Infection In An Infant
My baby is 7 month old doctor prescribed keflor (125/5)oral suspension 5 ml BD as she has mild ear infection.I am from Australia living in a country side with one doctor, not specialised in Paediatrics. My baby 's wt is 9 kg .is this dose is accurate as per her weight
The dose of Keflor prescribed to your baby is right as per her weight
Detailed Answer:
Hi... I understand your concern.
The dose of Cefaclor (Keflor) is right. But the side effect is serum sickess.
Rather than this, as a pediatrician, for ear infection, I would prefer to use plain Amoxicillin if she has not received any any antibiotics is the past 30 days and if she has received any antibiotics in the last 30 days, i would prefer to use Amoxicillin-Clavulenate.
Hope I am clear. I would be happy to answer if you have any further queries in this regard.
