Brief Answer:
Pls let me know the indication for an antibiotic prescription

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Bactrim (active ingredients sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) contents some of the most common allergic reaction causing ingredients and if at all you did experience itching soon after taking this medication then it is best to avoid it.

I would however also like to ask the indication for antibiotics?

Best wishes.

I was given the Bactrim for a bladder infection. I've used it before, and ask for it due to its low cost----Im in the Medicare doughnut hole, it cost me $.96. I've also taken levofloxacin before for a bladder infection, but the cost, at 45 percent, would be about$51. If I need to, I can cover it, but it just makes things tight. I need to take another dose before bed, but I don't want another reaction.

Brief Answer:
Why don't you give Bactrim one last chance?

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again.

As we are trying to make things more economic for you, and the reaction was very mild with bactrim. I would thus recommend you try a dose of Bactrim tonight, and observe for any reactions. If you really have a reaction then we can discontinue that and then start with levoflox.

Just one last try for bactrim to help make things more economic for you ma'am. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

Thanks Dr XXXXXXX I decided not to take a Bactrim last night, but have just taken one this AM. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well it's been about an hour since I took the Bactrim, and so far no problems. I took it on an empty stomach with a glass of water. Now I'll have my breakfast. Thanks again for your insight.

Brief Answer:
Great news indeed!! :)

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again.

Thats great news.

I somehow suspected that bactrim would not cause a problem, as your symptoms were too mild to be passed out as an allergic reaction. I hope you continue to tolerate bactrim and recover from your infection at the earliest.

Best wishes. :)
