Brief Answer:
probably

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Most sleep apnea needs to be treated. If it is very mild and you are not having fatigue or daytime somnolence it may be okay to wait for a while. Sleep apnea increases the risk for heart disease and stroke and should not be ignored. I suggest that you discuss this with the doctor that made the diagnosis and if they recommend treatment then I would suggest that you do what they recommend.

Brief Answer:
Not at first

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for this question. Modafinil is used to treat extreme daytime sleepiness in patients with narcolepsy and uncontrolled sleep apnea. If you are having severe daytime sleepiness it would be best to treat the sleep apnea first then if that is not working, modafinil could be considered. Most of the time once sleep apnea is treated the daytime sleepiness goes away. Good luck to you.
