Suggest Treatment For Mild Sore Throat, Mild Numbness In The Lips And Dizziness

My 17 yr old daughter is sick with flu like symptoms. It began Wednesday with a mild sore throat and then a little bit of a cough that evening. She woke up on Thursday with the sore throat, chills, body aches, dizzy head, stuffy nose, some nausea and occasional stomach pain. She had a fever that was usually around 100, but reached close to 102 for about an hour and a half, until we put a washcloth soaked in water and apple cider vinegar on her stomach for a few minutes and it went back down to about 100. She has been taking in plenty of fluids and eating lightly. There has been no vomiting or diarrhea. She is urinating regularly. This morning, she woke up feeling much better - no chills, no dizziness, no nausea, no stomach pain. She still has some body aches, but less so. She still has a bit of a cough, stuffy nose and is running between a 99 - 100 degree temperature. She is also experiencing mild numbness of her lips and tongue today and I'm wondering if that is a normal symptom of an illness like this or something to be concerned about? She can still feel her lips and tongue both from inside her mouth and if she touches them with her finger, etc. Everything tastes normal. She normally doesn't breathe through her mouth when she sleeps, but had to because of her stuffy nose. She also would normally be wearing an invisilign retainer while she slept, but didn't because of not feeling well / stuffy nose. Thank you for any information that you can give me!! :O)
Hypoglycemia most likely
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns for you daughter.
The tingling of her lips should not worry you. This is most probably due to hypoglycemia as she has not been eating much. This will go away as soon as she regains her appetite and starts eating adequately.
To help her ease the symptoms she can use Tylenol tablets 500mg every 8 hours after some food for the fever and body aches.
She can use an antihistaminic as Cetirizine 5mg once daily before going to bed to relieve the stuffy nose.
For coughing, she can take a cough suppressant as Dextromethorphan (prescription meds) and an expectorant as Mucinex
I hope I answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards

Hypoglycemia or dehydration most likely
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms,
Yes, it could be due to hypoglycemia or also may be due to dehydration which occurs possibly with fever. Fever tends to make the body lose many fluids through sweat in an attempt to cool down the body temperature.
Although you've mentioned that she's taking plenty of fluids, you should make sure she drinks (luke warm water, soups, broths etc.) around 10-12 cups daily for the time being. Along with this, eat enough sources of sugar that are easily digested like honey, dates, and jelly.
I hope you find this helpful.
Let me know how she stays later on.
