Suggest Treatment For Mild Sore Throat While On Advil

Question: Ok, I had a very mild sore throat and very slight nasal discharge about 5-6 days ago mostly gone maybe some slight nasal. Two days ago acutely I got a pain in my neck just left and slightly higher than the Adam's apple. The ENT dr. scoped me thru the nose and said all looked good. He also felt my neck and found nothing suspicious. It only hurts when I swallow but not from swallowing but from the movement of swallowing. I'm taking Advil which helps. I had what is said to be a no risk or neglible risk sexual encounter but with just one sore gland it wouldn't be from HIV, right? In other words, you would have several swollen glands right? And typically all over not just one in the neck but armpits, groan, etc right? My glands are not swollen only the one spot I've expressed sore? What do you think Dr? Is it a virus of some sort? Any advise appreciated. Should I be on antibiotics
Brief Answer:
I doubt you have HIV, you brobably have pharyngitis that should resolve
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back to HCM: Please note that HIV would present as a viral syndrome including fever, myalgias (muscle and joint aches) nausea and vomiting. If you have any concerns about HIV, you should get tested, and then make sure that you practice safe sexual practices moving on. In this time of the season, alot of flu and cold of all sorts are around and your symptoms are similar to a self resolving viral infection, please note that antibiotics may be warranted if this continues for over 10 days, and especially if you have a fever. I hope this helps out, thank you for the directed question and good luck.
