Suggest Treatment For Mild Stroke, Right Hand Weakness And Swallowing Problems

Question: hi dr., I would like to know about medication instructions.I recently suffered a mild stroke, causing some weakness on my right hand and swallowing problems. One of the medications he instructed me to take is pantoprazole. The instructions say I must swallow this pill whole, without chewing or crushing. My question is what if I can't swallow it whole?
Brief Answer:
It would not be as effective as intended!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this stroke and all the inconveniences that this has caused you. If you cannot swallow whole, its efficacy would be compromised. I will suggest that you try to bury it into any food you swallow so that it can get into the stomach whole.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
