Suggest Treatment For Mild To Moderate Infection Over The Scalp

Mild to moderate infection over the scalp: various suggestions.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.
I can understand your concern for the problem over scalp.
After analyzing your query I can get that you have got mild to moderate infection over the scalp. Though in psoriasis we don't commonly find infections. But some of the times in case if the scalp hygiene is not maintained properly then the area can get infected and that can cause oozing of fluids from the affected area.
There are certain important suggestion regarding your problem:
1. Do not pinch, pop or even try to touch any of the area.
2. Kindly avoid scratching any area of normal skin also, as it leads to minor entry points for the entry of bacteria.
3. Maintain proper hygiene and take two times daily bath.
4. Wash your scalp daily or on alternate days. Use a medicated shampoo with anti-bacterial property to wash your hair shampoo.
5.Do not use any kind of hair oil or any oily or creamy stuff any time on your scalp.
6. You can apply an antibiotic cream such as Mupirocin or fucidin at the affected area. A pain killer such as paracetamol can be taken in case if there is any pain over the area. Do not try to touch or pinch the area. If there is any swelling then should report to the treating doctor.
Wish you good health.

I typically wash my hair every other day with a shampoo/conditioner. I found and used Clobetasol Propionate shampoo and left on scalp for about 30 minutes, lathered and rinse and used an Aveeno oatmeal based shampoo. My scalp is so itchy but will try to avoid scratching it. So I don't need to take an oral antibiotic then.
Cordially, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Tablet containing Des-loratadine can be taken for 2 times a day.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mam,
Welcome back and thanks a lot for your further follow up.
You can continue to use the shampoo and its good combination to use Clobetasol Propionate shampoo and Aveeno oatmeal based shampoo. I suggest you to do daily wash of the scalp. You can use one Clobetasol Propionate shampoo on one day and Aveeno oatmeal based shampoo on the other day.
The basic cause of oozing is due to scratching and resultant mild excoriated areas. These areas can ooze fluids and on repeated touching might get infected.
In your kind of cases where there is lot of itching is present then I prescribe a tablet containing Des-loratadine ( Tab Claritin) for 2 times a day.
In case if you have itching only then there is no need to take an oral antibiotic. But if you feel any severe irritation or pain then you may require an oral antibiotic.
Just follow the suggestion as discussed in the previous mail. My all best wishes for your earliest recovery.
Wish you good health.
