Brief Answer: May remain static for sometime. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. Minor degeneration in the lumbar area is reasonably common and may stay static in the long term. If you are suffering back pain and stiffness, I suggest you take regular low impact exercise such as swimming, cycling and walking. Exercises to strengthen your lower back muscles will help. Pain killers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen should be considered for first line management. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger, MBChB. FRCA.

Brief Answer: May be OK. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for the further question. I would suggest either running on a treadmill which will be cushioned to a degree and reduce the impact and stress on your back. Or ensure you have good running shoes to reduce the impact if you are running outside. I hope this is of help. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
