Suggest Treatment For Moles On Abdominal Area

Question: I had what was described to me as a macule removed on 12/23/15. It was located on my upper stomach on somewhat sensitive skin. It was described as being irregular and since I am fair skinned my dermatologist wanted to remove it. The history of this macule is that's its always been the same size and shape. Just about a quarter inch in diameter. A pencil eraser could cover it.

About a year and a half ago I burned that macule with a hair removal product and then ruptured two areas on it with a loofah. I had actually took a picture of it to hold to compare to see how it healed. It healed with slightly more redness to it. It had always been a light tan/reddish in color.

My dermatologist says she's leaning it towards being okay based of the history and photo I showed her. I also showed her two other areas on my stomach that have the same pigmentation to it just no redness to it.

I am letting my anxiety get the best of me here. Does this look like something that could be malignant? I have a history of atypical moles being removed that honestly looked worse than this. Is this even a mole? They've always been sure to tell me what is a mole. I know the term macule can refer to anything flat and at a certain size. I have no family history of any skin cancers. I've enclosed two pictures of the macule right before it was removed and one picture of how it looked when I damaged
it.

also if you match the current inside red area, it matches up with the previous skin ruptures when the macule was damaged.

Brief Answer:
Moles seem to be benign but observation is needed

Detailed Answer:
My Dear Sir

Hello and welcome to this portal!

I am Dr V XXXXXXX a Dermatologist. I have analyzed your query and will give you all the necessary information to deal with the situation.

All the pics shared by you are moles, albeit one shows the injury caused on similar basic lesion with the same morphology.

To begin with, I would like to share with you that moles is a common term which is used to apply to different types of medical conditions that may have more or sometimes less pigment in the skin and having different medical names. They are also referred to as naevi.

Most often the moles, are and remain benign which means that these do not show any significant activity which is detrimental to health but rarely can turn malignant.

In your case, the lesions seem to be innocent or benign type. Hereunder I am going to detail major indicators that can be understood by a non medical person, and which hint that the said mole should be subjected to histological examination, or even removed before it has caused harm or spread to another body area

1 Increase in number and size

2 Variation in color

3 Oozing and crusting

4 Hardness or lumpy feel at the base

5 any other feature which is contrary to expectations

In such a case where these features develop, the best is to seek specialist opinion, as you did, and request the doctor that the removed tissue be histopathologically examined for a definitive cause. I assume that the removed lesions in your case were examined in this manner and the report might be available.

To sum up, I think you just have to be observant (taking serial pictures over time at regular intervals is good practice) and report if a problem is experienced, although that seems unlikely in view of family history and considering other factors. You seem to be on the healthy track.

I will be glad to answer any query from you, should you need our services.

Have a great time and good health!

The pictures are all if the same mole. One shows when it was injured over a year ago. The other two pictures are current and use different lighting. Im sorry if that confused you. So in summary, its nothing to worry about?
