Question: Hello Doc, Recently I was diagnosed with diabetes. I have been taking 200 mg Seroquel for mood and sleep. I have tried to reduced it with no luck. Seroquel, Ativan and Ambien have worked well together to control my insomnia. I have tried Hydroxyzine with no result, Geodon but it pooped out, Trazadone not effective. Abillfy caused tremors. Can you provide me with a traditional/novel list of some meds I can talk about with my psychiatrist. She is open to any good suggestions I may have. Thanks, XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
You can try Ramelteon and sleep hygiene
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I agree that Serquel has to be stopped . You have tried many other medicines unsuccessfully. The reasons could be inadequate doses as well so consider this aspect as well.
If you have mood disorder, I would like to know if you have symptoms of depression. If you have, taking appropriate medicine will help you reduce anxiety and or depression, which in turn will help you sleep better.
Other things to be tried are-
-observing proper sleep hygiene ,
-Tab Ramalteon 8 mg is a very good choice .
-reducing coffee /alcohol intake
- Going for a stroll before going to sleep.
Good Luck
